Hollis Brown was an independent folk band from Blumenort, Manitoba. The group consisted originally of Wendell Koop (Guitar, Vocals), Matthew Koop (Vocals, Guitar), Rosalie Madden (Vocals), Darrell Reimer (Bass) and Julie Penner (Violin). The band had seen numerous member changes over the years, most notably Don Zueff (Violin), Jaxon Haldane (Banjo, Vocals) and Tom "Twisty" Fodey (Bass) of the D Rangers, Rick Loewen (Banjo) and Travis Warkentin (Drums) of the ripperz. Hollis Brown released their first professional album "Running Out of Range" in 2000 after already independently releasing numerous of their own tapes including a large amount of covers and original tunes such as "Bottle Up and Go", an album composed of nothing but Hank Williams and Lead Belly covers, and a Christmas album.[1]
